Toro Construction serves as the General Contractor for Plant Chicago, an adaptive reuse of a former two-story firehouse in the  Back of the Yards neighborhood. Completed in support of the nonprofit, the project transforms the existing masonry structure into a mixed-use facility supporting retail, business, and indoor agricultural use. Scope includes full building modernization, including a new roof, masonry restoration, door and window replacement, and installation of new MEP systems, accessible restrooms, and interior finishes. The project also incorporates key life safety elements such as a 2-hour fire-rated separation between uses, along with site and accessibility improvements.
