Owned by the Chicago Public Housing Authority, Altgeld Gardens was founded in 1944 to provide affordable housing for the community. It is currently located on the far south side of Chicago and Riverdale Illinois. Altgeld counts 1498 units of affordable housing. This project consisted of the renovation of 218 units of affordable housing. Toro worked as a prime contractor in collaboration with Chicago Housing Authority. Toro provided a general trades package that included rough and finish carpentry, and drywall assemblies.
